Nerdy Time

Ok, welcome to the first weekly post of "Nerdy Time". This is an opportunity to ask a question and post responses to a various "Nerdy" (usually law school related) topic.

This week, we will start with something simple.

Just wanted to say thank you to Sergei and his wife for the lovely evening of bocce ball, pictionary and booze. Great time. Sorry ya missed it Todd! How are classes going? You did switch so you have class during the begining of the week right?

Books...

Hey ya'll...

I just got my books...

I believe there is a direct coralation between weight of the books and ease of the class...However, not in the way you would surmise...

The more difficult classes are in fact...Lighter! while the easier concepts to grapple with are hidden between thick volumes of dead trees...

Anyway...Just a thought...Also...How do you write 1172 pages on election law without repeating yourself?

Is this good news?

I received a phone call yesterday from the powers that be informing me that I and a few others are being permitted to enroll in Con Law meeting on R and F. Great!

But wait. That means I would have to switch Properties to avoid a timing conflict, and that means being at school 5 days a week instead of 3. Yikes. I may just do it though to snag the extra hours

Where be ye?

I noticed that I have posted most of the blogs of late and wonder where everyone is; haven't heard from Jon in quite awhile. Are you out there? Kelly? I suddenly feel like a spaceman whose been cut off from the rest of the team. Choking (gasp) . . . cannot transmit . . . you're breaking up . . . request assistance . . .

A 1L, though not exactly

The new school year looms ahead and I am filled with anticipation. A whole new bunch of greenhorns are out there right now; nervous, excited, fearful. I pray that I may be a shining beam of light for them all, illuminating the dark path which leads to a head crammed full of facts and rules and, hopefully, a grand schema on which to hang it all come exam time.

Yeah right.

All I know for sure is I am likely going to turn cartwheels everytime I hear one of my classmates ask another one, "So, how is your draft coming?"

In keeping with my distaste, nay, my loathing for the icky politesse of law school (even our laid-back Midwest one did not defy expectations: it's fun to deliberately use words incorrectly or mispronounced and hear folks snicker) I'll just lay it all out for you guys, true comrades and real men, if ever there were such things. For me, my first year was as easy as ABC. That's A for Contracts, B for Legal Writing and C . . . well, you know what that stands for.

Three more weeks is all we have left. I want to see you all (Sergei, too?) before the season commences. Let's meet soon.
